Easy access to everything Cardiff has to offer. Principality Stadium and Cardiff City Stadium. Music and Concert Venues, wide range of restaurants, bars, nightspots and cool cocktail lounges. Cardiff Bay with the Welsh Millenium Centre, Wales national home for the performing Arts and the home of Welsh National Opera, Mermaid Quay, Techniquest and a wide selection of restaurants, bars and cafes. The apartment is close to the Taff Trail running alongside the River Taff which is a popular walking and cycle path providing exceptional views and scenery over 55 miles between Cardiff Bay and Brecon. Bring your own bikes and leave them in the secure bike shed or hire them when you get here. Canton where the apartment is located or “Treganna” in Welsh, is a multicultural area to the west of Cardiff city centre and is very convenient for all the Cardiff attractions, shops, restaurants and bars. Canton had a huge influx of Irish immigrants in the 19th century, so perhaps this is why there are so many lively local pubs around the district. Speaking of which – the apartment itself is in an architect-designed conversion of a pub dating back to 1898 and a small part of the building has been retained as a pub – The Lansdowne Pub. The pub serves real ales, Weiss beers, good cider, proper pub food – as well as pickled eggs! It also won the prestgious CAMRA Cardiff pub of the year in 2014 and 2015. Generally you will not hear any noise from the pub – the only time you might hear some noise is if there is a Wales rugby match on! If you have not experienced a Welsh rugby match in Wales before we would recommend you get stuck in and soak up the atmosphere! It’s not just pubs in Canton – it’s also home to the HQ for arty folk in Cardiff -Chapter Arts Centre – which describes itself as “an ambitious, multi-artform cultural space that presents and produces international art, performance and film alongside a dynamic social space.” The area offers a lot due to its multicultural society. The cocktail of cultures makes it one of the most vibrant and diverse in Cardiff, which is good news for those who like to eat out. Whether you’re into dim sum, fancy a taste of British aka ‘fish & chips’, or Mediterranean floats your boat, Canton has it all. For your day-to-day needs there is a small cornershop about a minute’s walk away and a larger Co-Operative supermarket about a 5 minute walk away where you should be able to buy pretty much everything you need for your stay. In terms of Sports, Cardiff City football stadium is around 10 minutes walk and the Principality is around 20 minutes walk. Easy access to all the attractions Cardiff offers.
